Asking permission not so customary to them, but it is normal in traditional schools like asking permission for bathroom breaks, the sharpening pencils, the completion of school work and others. They are also accustomed in working together and in helping each other out.
They are encouraged by their teachers to use conflict resolution to work out their problems and their opinions and inputs are given respect. They are in an environment where respect is expected of everybody. This may cause problems in an environment where there are a lot of limitations and rules.
