Side Effects of Zolpidem

Before we start this article, it is important to know that not all side effects of Ambien have been reported. Therefore, this list may be incomplete or not include some of the symptoms which may occur. You should always report suspicious feelings to your doctor immediately upon recognition.

Ambien may also be known by its generic name of Zolpidem. This is a prescription medication widely known to be effective in the treatment of sleeping disorders such as insomnia. If you have been experiencing extreme difficulties going to sleep or sleeping throughout the night then you may have insomnia and should seek medical advice for some type of treatment option.

Allergic reactions to this medication have been reported on numerous accounts. If you or anyone you know are currently taking this prescription and notice any of these signs of being allergic, be sure to seek professional help right away. These signs could include such things as swelling in your face, tongue, lips, or throat, difficulty with breathing, rashes, or hives.

Other common adverse reactions of Zolpidem are depression, anxiousness, memory loss, aggression, agitation, no fear of danger, risky behaviors, confusion, hallucinations, and thoughts of suicide. You should immediately cease taking this drug if you notice any of these things happening to you and consult a medical professional immediately.

Consumers of this prescription treatment should never cease using until they have gotten advice from a doctor as it is known to cause severe and dangerous withdrawal symptoms for some people. Only your doctor can tell you if you should stop cold turkey or if you should wean slowly off of Zolpidem.

Other adverse effects of Ambien may be things such as dry mouth, throat irritations, fatigue, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, headaches, nasal irritations, and possible an irregular heartbeat. These kind of symptoms often show up when you first consume Zolpidem and will lessen in severity over time. Your body just needs time to get use to it.

The adverse reactions of Zolpidem that you should be most concerned with would include trouble breathing or swallowing, chest pain, and feelings of being light headed. These may lead to serious hazards in your health and you should report them to the hospital as soon as you notice it is happening.
