While kids believe that the hot holiday toys that come up in October are made in October, it is actually February when all the real toy action happens. The International Toy Fair in New York City takes place February 9th-13th, 2013. It is at the Toy Fair where the hot new toys for 2013 will first be introduced to the media and presented to toy review sites.
Before we peer into our crystal ball to predict what will be big in 2013, we first need to look back at what were the hot toy trends of 2012. The one trend that exploded in 2012 was helicopters and cars being controlled by iPhones and Android devices. These toys also now include cameras that stream live video to your smartphone or tablet. As if that were not enough, some of the RC toys now have night vision!
Another toy trend that emerged in 2012 was spinning and collectible toys. Beyblades have been popular for years, but 2012 saw Monsuno toys flood the market and new BeyWheelz toys hit the shelves. Anything that boys can spin, battle and collect became big in 2012.
Now, turning our attention to 2013, the best way to learn about the hot new toys for 2013 is to see what the Mom Bloggers and Dad Bloggers are talking about. Toy Fair 2013 will be covered by the mainstream media, but it is the Moms and Dads who tend to give the most honest and helpful review of toys. After all, Moms and Dads know how frustrating it is to buy a toy and then watch the kids not play with it!
The only think better than an honest written toy review is a full hands-on toy review video. If you do some searching on YouTube you will find a number of channels dedicated to real world toy reviews. We found the "DadDoesBlog" Channel on YouTube and it has over 240 real world toy reviews. It is great to see the toys in action, before you put down your hard earned money to buy the toys.
As we know that searching the web for the best toy reviews can get confusing, we will be writing up a Best Toys of 2013 series. This series will focus on hot new toys that are released at Toy Fair.
