Tips For Making A Midwest Hip Hop Promotion Website

By Juliette Cruz

A promotional website is one good way a person can spread the word about his musical career. This applies to many musical genres including rock, jazz, soul and even hip hop. When first starting out, an artist many not be able to afford a large site. But, as time goes on, he may eventually want to increase his online presence. An effective promotional site needs to provide interesting and recent information about the artist. Employ a few things when putting together a Midwest hip hop artist website.

Include a homepage. The homepage should contain the latest news about the artist. Include any news about any recent awards or prestigious performances here. Make sure to include prominent photos of the artist here.

Include a bio page. The bio page should give background information about the performer. Give brief personal details like early education and hobbies unless it would be of much interest to the visitors of the website. On the contrary, talk about stuff such as the birthplace and hometown of the performer; family members; musical education and influences; and how the performer started his professional career. Rave about any notable industry awards and nominations, or other accolades the artist has earned on the bio page. However, he has received a lot of honors, creating another page devoted to his honors.

Compose a performance page. Provide a list of upcoming performances. Provide the venue, time and date. Highlight any performances that are free of charge as well as if there are minimum age requirements for admission. Make a note of promotional and charitable appearances on this web page. A list of completed performance can be listed here on this web page, too.

Include a press page. Provide copies of positive performance and reviews in addition to feature magazine or newspaper interviews and articles. Post links to Internet videos and articles.

Include a community page. The community page is where the artist and fans can connect with each other. Things to consider for this page include a message board, guest book, street team information, a blog, mailing lists and links to social media networks.

Make a music page. Naturally, the public will want to hear some of the music the performer is known for. Offer samples of both recent and older material. If the performer has good quality videos of his past performances, include those. Also, include lyrics to some of songs.

Include an online store. Have CDs available for fans to purchase directly from the website. Merchandise, such as T-shirts, posters and buttons, can also be sold here.

Provide a contact page. The contact page should ordinarily contain information about how to get in contact with the Midwest hip hop artist or his representatives. Provide a mailing address, phone number and valid email address. Social networking links can be included here, too. The contact page should also give the contact information for individuals, such as a personal manager and booking agents, if the performer has such representation. This will help people like promoters, charity representatives and journalists ascertain who their first contact should be.
